One thing I did find is that the only Reddin Smith located in the Social Security Death Index is one born in 1909 in Virginia who died in 1984 in South Carolina. Of course if our Reddin Smith is either (1.) still alive or (2.) died before 1962 when the Social Security records became computerized -- then it could be this isn't our guy.
