Chequers is no more.

Marty Kaplan and Neal Silverman were pioneers in the online chipping arena, creating the Chequers website as the first website devoted entirely and exclusively to casino chip and token collecting.

As I recall, they created Chequers just before the final demise of the old Prodigy service, where many chippers got their electronic start.

Through the years there were a number of features added, and a number of columnists who regularly wrote exclusive columns and features for Chequers. Archie Black, Gene Trimble, Jim Reilly, Marc Shapiro (I know I'm going to get in trouble for not remembering everyone!) and I did the book review section with reviews of dozens of books written for the chip and token collecting hobby.

They added gateways to Greg's ChipBoard and to the CC & GTCC board when it was created as well. They provided places for chippers to contact each other, trade, and get together.

We owe Marty and Neal a huge thank you for taking their time to establish Chequers and maintain it for so long.

I'll miss it.

I'm in the process of finding another home for in depth reviews of chip books and publications, and will make an announcement as soon as I can do so.
