Re: Elko History Research - Stockmen's Commercial

Newton Crumley Sr. bought the Commercial in 1925. His Son Newton Jr. took over operations when he returned from WWII and immediately built the Ranchinn Motor Hotel, the first state of the art casino resort built after the war. The grand opening was Dec. 21, 1946.

Crumley sold the Commercial and Ranchinn, in June 1955 and then bought the Holiday Hotel in Reno. Red Ellis and Dick Warren bought the Commercial in Oct 1955. (did someone else own it from June to Oct, why don't the dates match?) Ellis ran the Commercial until his death in 1991. Ellis also developed the Red Lion and Holiday Inn properties.

The Commercial underwent a complete renovation in 1994. As of the writing (1995) the Commercial and Stockmen's were owned by Marcie and Jack Simon.

The casino information and current items show Full House Inc. as the owners.
