The Great Sahara Plaque Registry Project is moving right along. I have been contacted by many collectors wanting to offer up their serial numbers for the Project. Although we have only scrathed the surface, I encourage everyone with Sahara plaques to record their serial numbers. If you know of other collectors (not on-line, or avoid public postings) please ask them for the numbers and pass them along.
So far two framed sets have been located, which are believed to have been framed by the casino and given out as gifts. These framed sets are not matched by serial numbers and do not include the $1,000 plaque. James Campiglia and Steve Cutler each have a set.
Hopefully, the serial numbered plaques in those sets are not desirable because now that they are framed (as a function of the casino) they have an additional intrinsic value as a collectible.
James also warns that the font used for the serial numbers makes the 3's and 5's look alike, so be carefull when reading and recording the numbers. So far I have two claims each, on two different plaques, which are denoted in the chart as "dual claims". It is also possible that I may have mis-read a number of typed in the wrong space. So please double check my work.
Thank you,
Jim Follis
