... Scott is correct that you cannot spike the ball except after a direct snap. And it would have been difficult to throw downfield (say over the end zone) either fast enough or without having it appear to be intentional grounding.

On the other hand, it does appear that the NFL has admitted to blowing a pass interference call which would have given the Giants another chance.

None of which means anything at this point. And the Giants should never have been in that position to begin with.
