Just before the holidays, I got a call from a retired friend of mine. I'd bought some chips from him a few years ago.

He is not a chip collector but knows that there is revenue potential in older chips. He had just purchased several tokens and one very rare chip from the estate of a family which he knew.

He's consigned this chip to me for sale. The chip is the first issue $100 chip from Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn. It dates from the 1950's. Apparently when the chip was first made, several chips were issued with Wilbur Clark's first name spelled incorrectly...WILBER instead of WILBUR. This is one of those chips.

In the eight years that I've been in this hobby, this is the first time I've seen this chip for sale.

Assuming I receive a firm bid higher than the presently anticipated reserve, I will adjust the reserve on the chip to a level 5% above this figure. This way, the chip will go to the person with the highest advance firm bid unless someone bids 5% more than this. In that case, the previous highest bidder will have the right, as with any auction, to increase the bid, if desired.
