... (as opposed to traders) in one of these ways:
1 -- Special or expensive chips go in the airtites with the foam rim; the airtites fit nicely in Whitman blue coin boxes (17 to a box).
2 -- A limited selection of chips I like to look at are framed for display.
3 -- Another group that I like to look at is in a four drawer, 50 chips to a drawer display case (originally designed for a medal set). I covered each drawer with velvet and the chips simply fit into individual spaces.
4 -- Everything else goes in the hard plastic chip boxes available from Paul-Son (and probably elsewhere). 100 chips to a box, no individual container, flip or otherwise.
As I recall, Gene Trimble puts all of his chips in the hard plastic boxes, also.
I carry traders in the 80 pocket chip books, but they don't stay in them very long and so far I've had no problems with bleeding or discoloration.
