I will reiterate what Ron touched on. Why spend $2500 to get a few $39 rooms? Remember if you bet $50 per hand you stand a good chance of getting busted out the first night even if you play basic strategy BJ. So why bother? Play what you want, bet what you want, give them your players card and ask for a food comp at the table before you leave. You can probably play $5 BJ for a few hours and get a free buffet for you and your wife (they always ask how many you want to feed). An example of foolish comping is when I wanted to leave the table but wanted a drink to take with me. Of course I ended up losing $25 while waiting for the drink to come.
I also wouldn't stay at an off strip place just to get comped. There are lots of nice places on the strip that have reasonable room rates (Excaliber, Circus, Monte Carlo, Trop, etc). Why not spend a little time going to their web sites and hunt for the best deal. You can save up to $50 per nite just by looking at the right properties on the right days. And don't forget that the Club Convention is in Las Vegas on June 25-28th at the Trop and we normally get very good rates there. If you are still in the planning stages I would definitely recommend going during convention week just to see all of the goodies and meet all of these nice people.
By the way - if you do gamble at a significant rate you can always ask to see the host before you leave and see what they can do with your room rate. It never hurts to ask but you have to ask.
