I think a fair number of others were still upset with the issue and control, even though a small contribution was promised for the building fund.
"Rene was charging $5 a clip and everyone thought that was just super."
You would have to go back and read the thread, I think it showed that many more people loved the chips to honor the members, loved the donation, but hated the Rene Style scam where everyone would get ONE with a paid admission, Free.
The hook was if you wanted more, you had to pay another admission. That was twisted logic, if I ever heard it. Sounds like: Sure you can have one free, but we will be blackmailing you for a paid admission if you want the rest.
My guess was that the promoters could claim ### paid admissions when trying to get dealers to sign up for the next show. Problem is that one person was going to be promoted as eight in attendance. Just another scam. Otherwise, why not just sell the chips and keep it simple?
Why didn't these chips get made? Did anyone ever get the truthful answer to this single, simple question?
Not the run-around that some unnamed person phoned the gaming commission, or that they wouldn't get approved in time, or that some other person caused them to be refused approval.
What really happened?
