Sometimes it is also about ignorance. Even old time dealers may not really know what is obsolete or still in play. And don't forget about the $1 Hollywood Aurora teal chip which was a nice $50-100 chip before the rack was put back on the tables. Of course I am not defending the unscrupulous dealers who take advantage of uninformed buyers but antique dealers have a saying that no one can know everything about every antique. That is why you can still ocasionally get a good deal at the antique mall.
