That wasn't my point. I know why casino's do it. (What I don't know is why we buy these artificial rarities) However Brian is talking as though the Purpose of a casino chip is to be sold to collectors. In fact his post suggests that if a casino didn't make all its chips available to collectors that it should be a violation of gaming regs. As though it would be outrageous for a casino to actually want to use its chips for gaming.
