Although this Project is getting a fair amount of coverage, right now, I intend for this to be a long-range effort. I suspect that we will never register every plaque just for the reason you cited, plus, it seems that quite a few of the plaques were given out to Sahara (Del Webb) employees some time ago.
I have run into at least one of those people, he is currently working at a Strip casino, as a (what used to be called) Pit Boss. While I was playing blackjack one night he sighted my CC>CC shirt and asked about the Sahara plaques he was given when he was a Pit Boss at the Sahara.
He was not alone as an employee of the Sahara and it is those plaques that will be most difficult to register as they are not in the collector community. I suspect that over time, those plaques will have an opportunity to come into the collector market as the owners age and either pass away or begin to wonder if the plaques have any value.
As I stated earlier, I imagine this Project will be on-going and perhaps overtime we will learn a rather insightful history of these plaques. I might add that this effort would be decidedly more difficult if were not for the fact that they are serial numbersed.
Also making this Project possible is that Bourgogne et Grasset was willing to give us the production information and that holders of these plaques have been willing to register them in this project.
Thank you,
Jim Follis
