When someone uses someone else's scan to sell a chip on ebay, they are being disingenous and deceitful as a seller because the chip illustrated in their offering is NOT the actual chip that the bidder will be purchasing if successful.
I've made this comment before, which some thought to be silly ... and will do so again. Sometimes I am looking for specific edge insert alignments, especially on roulettes, when I bid on ebay. Several times, the chip I've received was not the chip in the ebay photo and I've had to return it to the seller as not being the same chip that was offered because he had either stolen a scan from someone else, or he himself had scanned a different chip for his ebay sale.
This issue comes down to one word. "COURTESY!" I've been turned down only once when I've asked for permission to use someone else's scan for my own use ... either for reproducton in my published reference catalog(s), or on my published reference website.
