Re: Indian gaming/Northern Nevada

True! Reno is beautiful but not easy to access. The Indian casinos will cut their marginal profits even more. In the last ten years, the whole Reno landscape has changed, with closings of many of the smaller casinos.

I'm hoping that they do something like Elko and give preferencial rates and offer flight packages that are less expensive. Last I checked it was about the same for a Funjet to Reno as Las Vegas. Which whould most people choose?

Reno for conventions is nice because of the compressed local. Everything is close and you can walk the whole "strip" of casinos. The scenery is very nice and getting out of town offers somewhat more than Las Vegas.

We have been discussing Reno for a few years, and this looks like twisting the knife, in an already bleeding casino location.

Personally I love Reno, it's just that I can get to Las Vegas easier and Elko is a cheap weekend, out of town, for a nice getaway.

I live 8 miles, down the Interstate from Potawatomi in Milwaukee. So far I visited the old casino once, because a group just decided to stop their after dinner, and the new casino four times. Once to just see it when it opened, three times for Sunday brunch. (because my Mother wants someone to take her gambling) I've spend more on food, than I have fed the machines, and never played a hand of 21 yet.

I'd love to spend the first weekend of March Madness in Reno this year. We are checking on charter flights to Elko and if it's too expensive, not part of the Casino Express/Red Lion package, I might as well go all the way to Reno.
