At one time the Sahara & Hacienda were both owned by Paul Lowden. Mr. Lowden was one of the few individuals who escaped the "stink" of the Argent Corporation scandal even though he was closely associated with ALL the individuals involved.

It was the Argent Corporation that moved ownership of the Hacienda to Lowden. I have often found it fascinating how an individual who played lounge acts was able to borrow the money to purchase the Hacienda. Hell, if I asked for that much money from Perry Thomas, President of the then Valley Bank of Nevada, he would have laughed in my face. It's a "GREAT" story and someday (like many others) I will write about it. Best, Jim
