I collect encased pennies & other coins from casinos. (The pic below shows a few.) I have an encased 1973 penny from the Sands Motor Inn & Casino in Reno. The reason I mention this is that the style of lettering (is "font" the right word here?) for the word Casino is the same on my encased penny as it is on your chip. This is a distinctive style that I've not seen on any other chip, or other piece of casino memoribilia. I would bet that your chip and my encased penny are from the same casino.

I acquired this encased penny a couple of years ago and have been looking for another item (chip, token, whatever) from this casino since. No luck. Then I see your chip AND a wooden nickel, on ebay, from this casino... on the same day. Weird.
