I believe I was there in '83 or '84. I stay in a hotel that was next to the casino. I would think that there would be a lot of chips and tokens from this place as it was their policy to take US dollars, but not to cash in the chips for them. You could get local money and it was well used money. The people had a habit of storing it away in their shoes and other wonder places.
I was not a collector then and didn't win so I had nothing to cash in anyway. The only other thing I remember about the place was the national job was street vendor. If you did't count them the unemployment was around 85%. The manufactor I was visiting would tell his employees that he was hiring and the next morning 200-250 people showed up for one opening. He would hire 30-40 for the day at $1 a day and keep the best one after a couple of days.
