The trick, as I see it, is not to try to change who I am (being the new Al rather than the old), it's properly chaneling particular aspects of my personality. Being a foul-mouthed trouble maker has served me well in certain aspects of my life (as a bartender in a skinhead bar, I probably wouldn't have survived wihout it). Unleashing that aspect of who I am in a forum such as this, however, is completely inappropriate and destructive to the relatioships I've developed on this board. I think there are other aspects of my personality that the folks on The Chip Board appreciate more, and it's in my best interest to remember that.
