is that until doctors decided to lobby Congress for medicine to be treated as a "profession" rather than a "trade," most drugs we now consider harmful were legal, and self-medication was the norm. Doctors wanted power (and the money that goes with it), and they pushed congress to put them in charge of drugs. Congress agreed, and all of the snake-olis that contained coke, opium, etc, became illegal. if you wanted them, you needed a prescription.
Flash forward --- 1970. Pot is illegal, but housewives across the country are getting "mother's little helpers" from MDs, as long as they can afford a doctor. The poor go to jail, the rich get prescritons.
Flash forward again - 199? -- Prozac and Ecstasy both regulate seratonin levels (in different ways). Those with seratonin deficiencies who can afford a shrink (not cheap) get Prozac. Those who can only afford a $20 hit of X use that. Science can find ABSOLUTELY NO REAL HARM from Ecstasy. Yet Congress outlaws it. Their reasoning is simple: It makes people feel good, and isn't prescribed -- it must be bad.
The game is the same. The AMA lies, cheats and steals. Those that can afford them get the help they WANT (not need). Other get sent to jail. look up the facts.
