Gambler’s code, common decency or neither?
I am curious to what each of you would do in this situation.
A woman, who is leaving for Vegas the next day, is sitting in a staff meeting, when the owner of the company passes her a note, along with a $20 bill. It reads, “Bet this $20 on #29 at the roulette table. Thanks.” She is taking a couple of days off to go to Vegas and is not on company business.
She carries the money around with her until just before she leaves Vegas. Not being a gambler, she has her husband help her pick the table, get the chips and she makes the bet. And 29 comes up!!! A $20 bet straight up on the #29 for a $720.00 payoff!!
She returns to the office and the owner stops by to ask, “How’d we do?” She tells him to hold out his hand and she starts counting out the money. He is so excited by the good fortune, he tells everyone in the office.
Now the question is, if you are the owner in this scenario, do you give the woman any part of the winnings? If so, how much? This is a true story and I will post the actual ending once I have seen some of your responses. Thanks
