Reynolds used to sign his name, "Ol' Jim." He loved Mother of Pearl and Ivory chips & markers. He was a retired coin dealer when we first met. I remember when I was selling my collection of 450 different ivory chips, I tried to get as much as I could. Jim told me that I had got my enjoyment out of them and that I should sell them for $10 each and let someone else get some joy from them.
About 5 years later, Jim was selling all of his chips since his children wanted him to get rid of them while he was still living. H e asked a little over retail for each chip in his collection. I asked him, "Jim, what happened to your philosophy of having enjoyed the chips and now, let someone else enjoy them at a very reasonable price?" Ol' Jim paused a moment and replied, "But those were YOUR chips. These are MINE!"
