The Chip Rack only lists one variation of this chip. As you can see from the scans below, this chip exists in the "Reno / Tahoe" (1st issue) and "Reno and Tahoe" (2nd issue) variations. Also notice that the 1st issue has a yellow/cream colored inlay, and the 2nd issue has a white inlay. I originally thought the 1st issue chip was yellowed from age, but I've seen 3 and they are all exactly the same. I've seen two of the 2nd issue and they were both white. From close examination of the two chips below, I'm convinced they were made with the different colored inlays. The colors are even, and consistent from side to side.
Based on the research I've done, it's entirely possible there are only 3 survivors on the 2nd issue known to exist. The 1st issue is more common. James' book lists it as R-8 (8-15 pieces). An additional 3 chips recently turned up in an estate. From my research, it's probably still an R-8.
