Pete, I agree with your opinion as stated above ... to a degree. Most LE chips issued DO NOT see much gaming action ... nor are they intended to! Just like most proof sets the U.S. government produces will not be spent as money in commerce transactions anywhere in this country. They are produced with the collector in mind ... but to hear some casino executives tell it ... the Limited Edition chips are also used a marketing tool to be put aside for "preferred players" ... and also to massage egos of headliner performers whose images grace these little round disks... and who insist in their contracts that specific quantities be set aside for their entourages.

But back to the value and "gaming purpose" of the LE chip itself ... anybody who so desires can place a bet with the LE chips he/she just purchased off the gaming table in Atlantic City .... and unlike Las Vegas, where they declare chips no longer valid for redemption simply by publishing a notice in the local newspaper ... every single chip legally issued by a casino in Atlantic City from DAY ONE is still redeemable at its face value ... including LE's.

I also understand that there are those who do not like Limited Edition chips and who do not collect them. I would venture to guess that for everyone who does not care for them, there are probably several multiples of that number who do. So let's all live and let live and let those who wish to collect these fascinating colorful round disks do so without creating all the mistrust and accusations among us. When it is found that someone has misrepresented something, or has taken advantage of a particular situation ... that's the time to take those individuals to task and to expose any perceived wrongdoings.
