I have in the past accidently bounced a couple of checks, usually caused by my not waiting for a check to clear before I wrote against it. Those who received a bad check from me have had it made good by me before their bank even knew it had bounced.

So I am not worried about my reputation because I know that in the end everyone will be satisfied. Mistakes happen along the way. I don't expect people to never make a mistake, its how they handle correcting the inevitable mistakes that I judge them on.
