Sounds like you're referring to moral rights, and if I recall correctly America had to adopt a certain a certain version of those rights when we signed some free trade agreement back in the early '90s. Can't remember which it was. I did do some basic work on a moral rights case when I was practicing, but that was a lifetiem ago. The case in point invovled the destruction of a work of art that was installed in a corporate building. The company wanted to remove it -- which would have destroyed it. My client was the artist, and was suing to prevent its destruction.
