... then how come the Board voted to bar him from ever applying for club membership in the future? Pretty drastic action for someone who "did nothing wrong".
If David Whalen "did nothing wrong" ... then how come the Board voted to bar him from admission to the club convention floor." Pretty drastic action for someone who "did nothing wrong".
David Whalen did much, much, more than simply clean chips or re-glue a loose inlay or two.
Talk about "apples and oranges" .... sheesh!
Let's get serious here folks! All this talk about cleaning chips and signing on to some fictitious list is to distract those who DO NOT DO business with David Whalen from the real issue.
Doing business with David Whalen (and others like him who engage in what Whalen is doing) does nothing to advance our hobby. We are not (at least I am not) talking aobut cleaning chips with an occassional swish of liquid detergent and a toothbrush here and there. Those who wish to continue to do business with David Whalen believe that thay are also "doing nothing wrong". So then keep on doing what you are doing if you are comforatble with that relationship.
However, I still don't think that public opinion supports the notion that "nothing wrong" is being done ... and no amount of protestations will convince me otherwise.
Tell me again that "David Whalen did nothing wrong". If this fairy tale story line is repeated often enough ... some others might even begin to believe it.
Bottom line is that David Whalen DID DO wrong and the club took proper action.... and that is my gut feelings.
