Good advice from Larry.
You can save space by lowering the JPG quality to say 75 or so, and by lowering the DPI to at least 72, since that's the most a monitor can display anyway. You can get away with 60 DPI on simple images. As a rule of thumb, I try to limit my images to 50K max, and I manage to get most under 20.
