I ask myself the same question every time I get pi$$ed at somebody riding a motorcycle without a helmet, or with their kid on the back. I think it's because we're old enough to have watched people we've known and loved die or kill others while doing something stupid. This street racing thing seems to be on the rise (or the media's just now discovered it) and maybe the kids doing it have to see some of their friends die before they realize it isn't worth it.

Not that it will solve your current problem, but I think you ought to write a column about getting "old" and starting to get angry about things like this. Maybe a piece about street racing to submit to some publication that one of these idiots might look at.
