Please allow me to make these distinctions.....
In Response To: To All Ashtray Collectors ()

There are three, similarly themed operations in the Tropicana Hotel and Casino that are all clustered into the same area. Visitors sometimes have a tendancy to think that they are all operated by the same person or persons, when in fact they are three separate entities, as follows:

The Legends Deli. This is a snack bar operation serving deli sandwiches and soft drinks. It is run and managed by the food service operation of the Tropicana Hotel and Casino and has no real affiliation with the CC&GTCC, but for all I know, a person or two behind the counter may be a member, but I doubt it.

Next is the Casino Legends Hall of Fame, sometimes called the Gambling Museum. CC&GTCC member Steve Cutler is the Curator of the museum and the vast majority of the items on-display in the museum are owned by Steve. (Some items are on-loan, i.e., Liberace stuff, etc.) Steve sells nothing from this facility, and in fact gives Club members free admission.

Lastly, there is the "gift shop" that is situated between the museum and the snack bar. That gift shop is owned and operated by CC&GTCC member Rich Burgel (a Past Publicity Director of the CC&am'GTCC). Rich rents the space in which the gift shop is located, and he owns the merchandise that is sold from there.

The gift shop clerk(s) operate the turnstile entryway to the Casino Legends Hall of Fame (museum) and also collect entry fees. The exit point from the museum is into the gift shop. This then gives the appearance that they are one and the same, or at least under the management of one individual.

But this is not the case. Operation and ownership of the gift shop is separate and apart from the Casino Legends Hall of Fame (Gambling Museum).

With respect to the "retro" merchandise that is sold in the gift shop, for quite some time I have viewed this stuff as I do fantasy chips and Borland Casino Commemorative Chips (i.e., those with open and close dates). Which is to say that I don't like it, but I tolerate it because they are not reproductions of the real deal (to my knowledge).

HOWEVER, if merchandise is being sold where it is not self evident that the items are of new manufacture and/or are not original as released by the casino(s), then there is likelihood of an infringement of the CC&GTCC Code of Ethics.
