Geez Al!
How could you possibly place that guy's name in the same sentence with AC/DC?!? He couldn't carry either Bon Scott's or Angus Young's lunch bucket! His music sure as hell won't be on the airwaves 20 or 30 years from now. AC/DC has what all true good rock music has, longevity.
For today's current hard rock, I'll take Nickelback, Korn, Soundgarden (even tho' Steve & Edie did a cover of Blackhole Sun), Stain (sp?), Eve 6, and even Nine Inch Nails (Closer happens to be on my all time favorite song list.)
My opinion, Kid Rock is a spot on the map of time in rock music. ...probably not even a dent. ...definitely not lasting.
I know something about rock too. I played in garage bands for close to 20 years. I did concert production and promotion at the local level in a secondary market for 3 years in the mid-90's. I am, and have been, in the business of selling and repairing high power audio equipment for sound reinforcement for 25 years.
Given my experiences, I'd rather put my money on a roulette table than promote concerts in a secondary market, especially during the winter. The odds for making money are better on the green felt....
