First, I'd like to thank Rene for his offer. Thanks Rene!
Second, I'd like to remind people to be careful. I gave a homeless person a $20 once, and he freaked out on me, and grabbed me and wouldn't let go. Then he started talking about his knife, and I beat a hasty retreat. He also complained that the $20 put his life at risk, which may have been true.
By the way, this all happened at the foot of the famous "Exorcist Stairs" in Georgetown, Washington DC.
Some of the people on the street need serious mental attention, and they're not going to get it. For this reason, I support the idea of giving the money to a shelter or other agency.
But again, I think people are missing the point that Rene made a nice offer here.
