"Hey Bill- for the record, I personally don't think the world needs a pair of Maloof family vanity chips either. You wanna know how I'm going to deal with it? I just won't buy them."
Al, there is only one two sided Roast chip.
The roast chip came about because of me.
Management wanted the chip to give to VIPs at the roast. They needed 700. I convinced them to do 1,500 and release some to collectors.
My thinking was, if only 700 were made and were put into VIP's hands only, collectors with complete Palms collections would have to bid high prices on the few that made it to ebay or found their way into insider’s hands.
I thought it best to allow them to keep their collections complete for $5 to $8, even though I knew I would wind up seeing the too many chips posts on the BB. This decision was a two edged sword. Either way, we see bad press on the BB. Too many chips or artificial rarity.
The Palms will continue to use chips to promote in house promotions. We are very grateful to collectors but they are not the only ones taking our chips. The crossover collectors are taking a large amount of our chips. We see the results from the crossovers in hotel bookings and total overall business. I get dozens of emails each week from people that have seen our chips on web sites (many of the sites are not collectors sites) and wanting information on the Palms and some wanting information on chip collecting.
The Palms logo is being put in front of thousands of people, both on TV and the print media, some of it, because of our chip program.
I fully agree with you, collectors should collect what they want and pass on what they do not want. I personally practice this policy everyday.
"some issue chips for any day that ends in "y"
I promise we will not do a chip that falls under this category.
