Hey Bill- for the record, I personally don't think the world needs a pair of Maloof family vanity chips either. You wanna know how I'm going to deal with it? I just won't buy them.
I decided a few weeks ago that Palms chips were coming far too fast and furious for me to buy them all ($780 in one week to buy Playboy and CSI????? - I think not). But at the same time, I love the fact that Gene puts out a lot of chips. I buy what i like, and I pass on the chips I don't like.
This particular week I am way happier with Rene's Palace Station Corvette chips than any Palms chips. In the long run, Gene puts out great chips, and I am glad to be a collector with access to his products.
To be honest -- and I'm sure this will anger many people -- no casino has exercised the legitimate QUALITY CONTROL that the Hard Rock exercises. Someone should give props to Warwick. He doesn't issue any "The Sun Came Up Today" chips. Every chip he produces is worth while, and worth collecting. They are the only casino with a real chip "program" that descriminates with regard to what they release. Some casinos issue no chips, some issue chips for any day that ends in "y", but the Hard Rock seems to take it seriously.
Just one man's thoughts.
