I've bought in designating my chips as $5 chips on $1 chip minimum roulette tables many times. It gets people's attention!

Lay a $100 bill on a wheel table and ask for $1 chips, nobody blinks an eye, sometimes you play for half an hour before the pit will pick up your player's card.

Throw down $500 for 100 $5 chips and the pit critters not only pay attention to you immediately, they keep watching you.

Given that the practice of some harvestors is to take roulette chips by the stack, I fully understand the increased scrutiny when I'm playing $5 valued chips that could have been lifted from the table earlier at a buck a piece, or in some cases, even less.
