Re: Caveat emptor should always apply ...

Dean, that's in the eBay guidelines, all items listed must be rare, hard to find, scarce or limited editions, or they can't be listed. grin

I try to avoid the terms, but just look across anything collectible on eBay and you will find hard to find items starting at $10, which is an obvious contradiction.

What I find upsetting is people who misrepresent chips over and over, and pretend to be making an honest mistake. There are many cases of this, not just one in Las Vegas. There are people who will find a box of chips and say they only have limited numbers. People who will try to corner the market on a particular issue. Or maybe make their own set of $1 chips to sell for $5 each? People who will try to scam us over and over with twisted self centered scemes, which end up patting themself on the back and saying how much they have done for the hobby. (while we know they are only interested in filing their pockets with our money)

So someone calling everything they sell "rare" isn't as much of a problem for me. It's common practice on almost all eBay auctions.
