Well, he 'sorta' worked for Channel 44, John. Don used to record the announcments (or "tracks" as we call them...) once a week at KFRC, then courier the tape over to Ch. 44. In fact, George Zema - who was DDR's engineer (responsible for 98% of the crazy sound-effects, and is still here!) recorded them for Don, then did the leg-work while Don rode home in his limo .
