Bryan, Rick gave you all the stops. Your question regarding boring? It is without doubt the most boring drive you'll ever take. It's 10 hours from Las Vegas to Reno and you can probably see about 1000 miles each way (at least that's what it seems like to me.)

I took it once and that was enough for me. Now I go south from Sacramento to Bakersfield over to Baker and up to Las Vegas.
