I had gotten up and was still recovering from by-pass surgery and was actually reading the chipboard that morning with CNN going in the background. Reports of a plane crashing into the World Trade Tower crept into my brain, I stopped and turned up the volume, only to witness the second plane hit. In total disbelief I watched as more and more disaster unfolded. By 11:00am I was back in the hospital with complications but continued to follow the stories. By day 2 I had an American Flag taped to my window of my hospital room and red, white and blue ribbons on my door, others in the hospital soon followed. With my laptop from the hospital I continued to follow the chipboard and it was here first I saw the call go out for everyone to go and donate blood, antcipating the need. Hour by hour the chippers continued to show their true colors as support via chip auctions and donations began mounting. I am very proud to be a member of this group to say the least!! Where was I when this happened? Witnessing it with my friends ... all of you here on the chipboard.
Since that we (in my community) have built the first memorial to the heroes and victims. Unfortunatly, it does nothing for the sadness that still remains.
