at the French Roulette table, kind of same system. (they don't like you taking marked jetons as you could come back next week and if someone else play that 'color' there might be confusion). That is why I have so much respect/admiration for Fran, because in Barcelona everybody plays the same jeton on the French roulette tables and it is the croupier and specially the head of the table who has to watch and he will decide who gets paid.(sometimes the eye in the sky also helps). Then they even have the called bets, which are not even placed on the table, like 'final 7' which means 7,17,27 is played without the jetons being on the numbers. And that is a easy call, there are a LOT more difficult beds.
