The red and black bets stayed in place when a zero was hit at the Paris Las Vegas French roulette table too. The term used was "enprison" or something like that, and I don't recall there being a commission involved. There could have been, but I'm not a red or black bettor either so I don't know for sure.

I saw quite a few people walk away thinking they had lost a red or black bet when the pill fell into the zero slot. Most of the time the table or pit staff was able to catch them before they disappeared into the crowd on the casino floor, but not always...
