The Frontier BudJones metal coin inlay chips have been put together in many combinations, Pete. They have been around as long as I've been collecting (1994) and I doubt it was a chip dealer that made them. The coin inlays were the remnants of chips that were destroyed by the casino and could easily have been put into other BudJones plastic rings by anyone. In fact, you can still find them advertised on eBay every week.

I have a $20 Frontier that's not in TCR and I'm sure it's a put-together chip. Mel and Armin both educated me on these chips many years ago. I don't think any of these have been sold as genuine in recent years. Mel was as free in describing these early "mules" as he was in describing the more recent remanufactured brass core chips to anyone who dealt with him. It's hard for me to believe anyone didn't know what was going on with the Reliable chips!
