Britney may in fact get her own chip some day -- she already has her own display at the Hard Rock (the hot little schoolgirl outfit she wears in one of her videos).

Honestly I doubt she'll get it for one reason. BRitney's shows (and albums/videos for that matter) are all about choreography, effects, and flash. They process her voice so much on the album that it could easily be anoyne in the world singing, and then they play 12 backing tracks at her concert and mix her live voice in as track #13. The kids who go see her (and I interviewed several outside the MGM Grand after her HBO special) don't care about whether she sings. THey want the spectacle of a concert -- fire, people flying across the arena, etc -- all the things they see on MTV -- from a live famous person. It's a 12-year-olds version of Sessame Street on Ice. It's not what I go to a live show for, but I must admit she puts on a great show if you like thqat stuff. But if I want to hear bubblegum pop (which I'm not a big fan of to begin with) I'd rather listen to Christina Aguilera, who actually has an amazing set of pipes and sings live.

The reason Britney won't get a chip, however, has nothing to do with my likes and dislikes. It has to do with the fact that she could probably never trim down her show to fit into The Joint.
