Though I've not purchased any since the Euro was introduced in January, I have purchased them for the past 12-years in FF, DM and £ (no conversion in either direction) to pay for chip purchases. They can be purchased at banks or at any AAA; CAA office; fee free, and they're insured against loss or theft.
