What I propose is that people check their prejudices at the door, and accept that the enemy could be anyone. El Al airlines has the tightest security in the world, but they don't limit it to "muslim extremists."
You see, with a Mohawk and numerous body piercings, I am ALWAYS asked to take my shoes off. I don't complain because I learned my rights in law school, and I am able to make sure they're not trampled on. I also don't complain because I want my flight to be safe. But what burns me up is when I hear people say "Why are they stopping me, I don't look like a terrorist?" That's bull. Those are the people who are so used to their white privillege that they think they really are a better class of human being than others. And those are the ones who point ut why racial profiling is a good thing.
You know what, drug dealers have been smuggling coke in babies' diapers for years. And OSama's people are nstructed to dress like Americans. So don't tell me that that nice young lady in an Armani suit with an infant in her stroller shouldn't be searched. Let her put up with it like everyone else. Don't ignore her to concentrate on the dark-skinned man with a beard.
Furthermore, Can you imagine if after Oklahoma City, the Federal government decided that Christians were a suspect group, and those who actively belonged to Christian churches were singled out for searches. Do you think Americans would have dealt with that. no, they would have said "not all Christians are radical Christians." But those same people have no problem with suspecting ALL MUSLIMS.
It;s racism pure and simple.
