Free use is for non-profit, educational or refrence works. (therefore Greg didn't really have to remove the scans.)
Making a T-shirt or using the chips for PROFIT would be against the law.
But as you have pointed out Jill, the casino in question would most likely issue a cease and decist order, at which time, the maker of the shirts (whatever items with the images) would have to stop or face charges.
While you or I may think it's "free promotion" it is using their copyrighted materials without permission. Disney is a particulary vigilant Corp. when it comes to these matters. If hundreds of people started making Mickey Mouse shirts, gloves, pot holders... Disney would lose the exclusive rights to the image and name.
Even Coke has to protect it's name from becoming generic like Kleenex and some other products which have lost the rights to their own brand name.
So that's why a Corp. would protect their logo and name. Which brings up why there are so many casinos named the Horseshoe, I guess it's open to anyone who wants it?
