Mike,
I read Eric's opinions on potential club liability. My questions were concerning whether or not the club could be held liable for the logo used on a casino chip that only welcomes members of the club.
To use a different example, many casinos have LE chips for the National Finals Rodeo every year in Las Vegas. Wouldn't those chip issues be similar to the Reno chip in that they include the Pro Rodeo Association's logo on them (with approval I'd assume)? People do get injured in rodeos. Is a PRA liable for what happens at the rodeo itself? Sure is to the extent that waivers signed by participants will allow. Do casinos issuing commemorative chips share the same (or any) liability? I don't think so. That's where I'm going in this discussion.
...it wouldn't be too far off, using this liability discussion to suggest that every casino that issued River Run chips should be held liable for what happened at Harrah*s in Laughlin.
If that is what we need to really worry about, then I agree with the sentiment of, don't let anyone use the logo to promote the club at privately conducted and funded functions. Eliminate personal use for any reason. That would be consistant.
