"If you were making the decision on whether or not my Fremont show could use the logo on the chip, would there be ANY circumstances where it would be ok? Or, is it your opinion that the club logo should ONLY be associated with club sponsored events?"
Kent; It is my personal opinion that the club logo should be used EXCLUSIVELY with club associated correspondence, club literature, club conventions, club publications, club Chapter events and programs, club member business cards and Ebay ads with identification on them as being a club member and their membership number and for other club related activities.
Use of the club logo should not be granted for private commercial purposes period. If your Fremont show was sponsored by the Fremont Chapter of CC>CC, and the proceeds were going to be used for the Chapter's benefit, I would consider granting approval for use of the club logo.
That is not to say I'm against promoting the club. I think there are other ways to promote the club. How many people on this board have signed up ONE NEW MEMBER over the past year ... or two years? I think the Reno chip can be used just as effectively to promote the club and the hobby in general without the club logo being used. I wish nothing but great success to Jim Frederickson and Allen Anderson with their show in Reno. However, I don't think that by having the club logo on their attractive chip will bring one more person through the door or sign up one new member than if the logo was not present.
