Andy; To answer your question .... I believe the original request and permission was via email and telephone.... but the official ByLaws provision is definitely "in writing".

This logo usage matter was informally discussed again with Bill Akeman very recently earlier this year when the 10th Annual convention chip designs with the club logo were disclosed for the ten properties in town. But since the Board approved it and because it was related to an official club activitity (our own convention) .... there was no controversy.
