Has anyone given any serious thought to the above question?

A. Obviously the short answer is because they have something to say.

However this bb serves different purposes for different people. Some may use it to tout their Ebay offerings. Others may use it as a vehicle to tout their websites. Some may use it as a means of exchanging information. Some may use it to correct an incorrect statement made. Some may have a technical question they would like answered ... or one that is related to the hobby in some way.

Some may post because they are seeking other's opinions... while still others simply disagree with a post that has been made by someone else.

Some do not care about other people's opinons. Only their own is what matters.

Then there are the legal experts and lawyerly opinions ... of which this board is blessed. BTW: How come none of the lawyers are from Philadelphia who reside in sh1thouses?

Some posts are political in nature ... others are meant to be humorous ... or poking some good-natured fun at Greg Susong.

Some post just to show off their advanced scanning techniques while others seek answers to scholarly questions like ... "How do I make a smiley face?"

Sometimes we only hear from folks who have something to sell or promote ... and they never contribute anything worthwhile talking about.

I don't know of any limits that have been established as to how many posts can be made by an individual.... but evidently some folks think that I post entirely too much.

Some posts get downright nasty while others are very educational and cordial.

We've even had true-love romances in bloom on this bb.... and bitter name-calling battles as well.

Of course we've all read the patriotic fervor posts ... and the religious arguments.... and have viewed the photos of children and animals along with the thousands of chips posted.

Pro-union, anti-union, strikes, illegal immigrants, welfare, unemployment, sports, rip-off artists, virus alerts, new issues services, who knew what and when, how many chips were discovered in the latest big find, how much did that sell for, how many did you buy, who's got what, catalog prices, mis-spelled words, TCR, who is running for office, why won't the club hold a convention in Reno .... all these topics and more are fair game on thechipboard.com

Some posts receive alot of attention, others get very little to none. I'm always inspired by long threads and topics that get a hundred or more views. The more views the better ... as long as the counter is not deliberately run up by egotists who think that 1000 views in one day is believable.

Maybe some folks are lonely, or have nothing better to do with their time, or suffer from insomnia. Of course we all know about the "lurkers" who contribute nothing to the bb ... but sometimes I wonder what they are thinking.

Of course being critical of club officers and their decisions made is always fun ... no matter who is in office. Without question, the elected President bears the brunt of the abuse. (Did you hear that Mike Skelton?)
