With your theory of trying to sell a thousand chips they are aggravating the collectors and the dealers to the tune of thousands & thousands of dollars worth of returned LE,S which are tied up in inventory that are no longer worth holding.
There was a dealer in line with a bag of at least $1000.00 in MARINA 5.00 LE,s which were being returned to the cage as soon as the 25.00 chip was distributed. We the collectors are buying these chips!! Not the handful that are bought by speculators. Our numbers will be reduced every time a casino makes a dumb decision like the Marina just did. I gurantee more collectors will be turned off than on with this move.
While at the convention,I spoke with dealers who were in the process of turning back I bet a 100M
worth of LE,s as soon as the convention was over.
I personally cashed out a significant amount of excess chips which I felt were not worth holding.
Take a look at the Opera House & the Silver Nugget.
Chips produced in a quantity of 30 100,s & 50 25.00,s do not sell out. Why?- The collector knows he is being screwed by these properties.
If the MARINA continues its ways, it will fall to the same fate as the Claridge. The chips will become worthless and NOT collectible. All the excess will find their way back to the cage!!
